After lots of preparation and anticipation, the launch of“Adi Shankaracharya: Hinduisms Greatest Thinker” was celebrated on 8th September in Ustaad Allaudin khan Auditorium. Students, faculty, publishing professionals and journalists gathered at Leonardo da Vinci Block to watch Author Mr. PK Verma release his work to the world. Hosted by ITM University, Gwalior, the event was a resounding success. The guests arrived in the hall, a little before time and when everyone settled in their seats, the show started by lighting the floor of Diyas on stage by Mr. Verma escorted by Chancellor Mr. Ramashankar Singh. This was then followed by presentation of Green Certificate to members of the discussion panel which included our very own Author, Former MP and Indian Ambassador, Mr. Verma, famous Artist and Writer Mr. Manish Pushkale and distinguished Journalist Mr. Prakash K Ray. The theme of discussion was off-course the life and times of Adi Shankaracharya, who was one of the epitome pillars of Hindu mythology and philosophy. The discussion started by a formal introduction of the dignitaries by Vice chancellor Dr. KK Dwivedi who welcomed everyone with the energy necessary to kick off the gathering. His speech was then followed by Chancellor Mr. Ramashankar singh who enlightened everyone about the tradition of Book Launch Event in the University and how it’s just an excuse for renowned artists and writers to share the same stage for a healthy discussion. He also highlighted the importance of University in shaping the thoughts of younger generation in a country which is growing more and more intolerant to new ideas.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly hearing from Mr. Verma. Bearing a serious demeanor, the former MP started the discussion by telling us more about the book and then talking about various aspects of Hindu mythology. Touching upon the life of Adi Shankaracharya, he told everyone how Shankaracharya devised an age old map of Indian Subcontinent by establishing 4 Matha’s in every direction of the country. He also discussed how his travels across India and world has influenced the material in the Book. He proved how purity in thoughts and our adhesiveness to our age old culture are the key to success in a world where Copy-cats are rejoicing and thriving. Talking about our tradition, he also highlighted the key areas where scientific discoveries have proved the findings of various Indian historians and philosophers.

Mr. Prakash K Ray highlighted the simplistic nature of the book and how it is beneficial for younger and older generations alike. “I don’t always agree with the philosophies of Adi Shankaracharya, though I am startled by the simplistic nature in which this book is written. I wish to read it as soon as I get my hands on it”, said Mr. Ray. He also made everyone realize how this book is important in times when heights of our culture have taken their toll. The discussion ended with a question and answer session which witnessed many thought provoking questions as well as their profound answers by the discussion panel.
