Summary of the Guest Lecture by Visiting Faculty

Prof. M.R.Verma:
- (Former Dean, College of Agriculture Engineering & Technology, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture Technology & Sciences (CSAU&T), Kanpur, UP)Subject: Fundamentals of Soil Water Conservation and Engineering, AENG -111 The Visiting Faculty, Prof. M.R. Verma delivered lecture on various aspects of Fundamental of Soil Water Conservation & Engineering w.e.f. April 12- 15, 2014 in School of Agriculture ITM University, Gwalior. Dr. Verma took lecture on various aspects of irrigation i.e. flow irrigation and lift irrigation, water source, water lifting devices- Pumps (shallow and deep well) capacity power calculation. Irrigation water measurement, weirs, flames orifices and methods of water measurement and instruments, water conveyance system through power point presentation. The students also interacted with Prof. Verma on various aspects of the subject.
Prof. Ranjeet Singh:
- (Former Prof & Head, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Narendra Dev University of Agriculture &
  Technology (NDUA&T), Kumarganj, Faizabad, UP) Subject: Principles of Seed Technology, GPB -121 The Visiting Faculty, Prof. Ranjeet Singh delivered lecture on various aspects of Principles of Seed Technology in SoAg, ITM University, Gwalior w.e.f. April 14-16, 2014 i.e. Foundation and certified seed production, varieties and hybrids, Seed certification and replication phases of certification,procedures of seed certification, field inspection and field counts etc. Seed act and seed act enforcement, Central Seed Committee, Central Seed Certification Board, State Seed Certification Agency, Central and State seed testing laboratories, Varietal identification through grow – out test,seed drying, moisture equilibrium between seed and air, heated air drying, building requirements,
  types of air distribution, system of seed drying, selection of crop dryer and system of heated air drying- recommended temperature and depth of the seeds, management of seed drying. concept of seed quality, factors affecting seed quality. Definition, character of good quality seed, different classes of seed, production of nucleus, breeder and breeder seeds, maintenance and multiplication of pre release and newly released varieties in self and cross pollinated crops. The students interacted with Prof. Singh on various aspects on Seed Technology.
