INSPIRE-2018

The inaugural session of the 4th INSPIRE Winter Science Camp 2018 at ITM University Gwalior. Prof. Dr. D.G. Kuberkar, Head of the Dept. Physics, Saurashtra University, Gujrat, presided over the function as chief guest. More than 200 students from various schools of Madhya Pradesh along with their escort teachers were present in the function. The programme began with lamp lighting and inaugural speeches by the chief guest and other dignitaries who graced the occasion. The inaugural session was graced by High Tea for all. Post that , in the first technical session of the camp, Prof D.G. Kuberkar gave expert talks on two interesting topics namingly, Nanomaterials and their Applications and Materials for Future Technologies. At the end of the first session, the Preliminary Round of Science Quiz was organized for the students which comprised of an MCQ based written test.

DAY 2 OF INSPIRE WINTER SCIENCE CAMP 2018

On the Second Day of Inspire Winter Science Camp 2018, there were three expert lectures and interactive sessions, first by Prof. K. K. Dwivedi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of ITM University Gwalior and a senior Scientist on Innovation and Emerging Technologies, second by Prof. Santosh Sharma,Head of the Department, Mathematics, ITM University on Sets and Relation and third by Prof. C. B. Devgun, President SPACE(Spacecraft Pre Launch Automatic Checkout Equipment) Foundation on Astrophotography and Science Communication. At night Prof. Devgun conducted a workshop on Astrophotography. He detailed and also demonstrated to the students on how to click pictures of astronomical objects.

DAY 3 OF INSPIRE WINTER SCIENCE CAMP 2018

On the third day of Inspire 2018, Dr. Vikas Thakre, a senior scientist from Defence research Establishment Organisation, Gwalior gave a presentation to the students on Protective Textile for Defence. He informed the students that by using activated carbon fibres, meta aramids, xylon, PU films, rubbers, etc. NBC suits, permeable and impermeable suits, socks, haversacks, gloves, boots, wipes, bio mask and also some self cleaning and detoxifying textiles are being made.

DAY 4 OF INSPIRE WINTER SCIENCE CAMP 2018

On the fourth day of Inspire 2018, a debate competition was organized for the students on the topic “Impact of Social media on Society”. Jaunty participation and logical views and counterviews were put forward by the debators. Thereafter there were two expert lectures, first by Prof. Puneet Jain from IIT Roorkee on Electricity—A Story of Centuries, and second by Prof. Devashish Kundu from IIT, Kanpur, on Mathematics and Statistics. This was followed by a question answer session between the experts and students.

DAY 5 OF INSPIRE WINTER SCIENCE CAMP 2018

The fifth and the final day of Inspire 2018 began by the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Chancellor of ITM University, Gwalior Shri Rama Shankar Singh. He delivered a motivational and interactive lecture to the students on Scientific Temperament and the Essence of science. A number of competitions were organized for the students which include Poster- making on “Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan”, Skit competition on “Science and Technology” and Quiz competition. Also there were two expert talks, first by Dr. Monika Kaul from Hansraj College, University of Delhi on Global Environment and Plant Evolution and second by Prof. Y. C. Goswami , Head of the Department, Physics, ITM University, Gwalior on Trends for Future Jobs wr.t. Science. Post lunch, the valediction ceremony of INSPIRE 2018 was organized wherein the students were distributed various prizes for their diligent and outstanding performances in various competitions . At the end there were concluding speeches by the dignitaries and a group Photograph of all the participants. The students bid farewell to INSPIRE 2018 taking home sweet memories. Indeed it had been a wonderful and inspiring experience for all.
