Ph.D. Programmes

ITM-University is a multidisciplinary university known for its quality of research and teaching across the academic spectrum, with subjects spanning the sciences, engineering, management, fine arts,social sciences, arts, nursing etc.

1. Eligibility Criteria:
  • Candidates must hold a Master's degree with specific minimum percentages (e.g., 60% for Management, 55% for Science).
  • Relaxations are provided for SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per UGC regulations.
2. Application Requirements:
  • Candidates must apply with details including qualifications, proposed research subject, thesis title, and supervisor details.
  • Certificates of qualifying exams like UGC/CSIR/DST and teacher fellowship letters are needed.
  • Application have to be filled online.
3. Admission Criteria:
  • Admission is based on performance in national level tests (UGC-NET, GATE, etc.) and/or an entrance test conducted by the university.
  • A minimum of 50% in the entrance test and interview is required, with a 5% relaxation for reserved categories.
4. Duration:
  • The PhD program spans a minimum of three years to a maximum of six years, with possible extensions up to ten years for female scholars and persons with disabilities.
5. Course Work:
  • Mandatory coursework includes subjects like Research Methodology and Research Publication Ethics.
  • A minimum of 55% in coursework is required to continue in the program.
6. Research Advisory Committee (RAC):
  • The RAC reviews research proposals, guides scholars, and evaluates progress.
  • Scholars must present their progress before the RAC each semester.
7. Synopsis Submission:
  • After completing coursework, scholars submit a synopsis of their proposed research.
  • The Research Degree Committee (RDC) evaluates the synopsis and approves the research plan.
8. Thesis Submission and Evaluation:
  • Scholars can submit their thesis after a minimum of 2.5 years of research.
  • The thesis is evaluated by the supervisor and external examiners, followed by a viva-voce examination.
9. Publication Requirements:
  • Scholars must publish at least two research papers in peer-reviewed journals before submitting their thesis
10. PhD Award:
  • Upon successful thesis defense and viva-voce, the PhD degree is awarded.
  • The degree is subject to compliance with UGC regulations.
11. Miscellaneous Provisions:
  • Provisions for part-time PhD programs require a No Objection Certificate from the employer.
  • Degrees can be withdrawn in cases of plagiarism or irregularities.
