The Physical Education & Sports Science is one of the fast emerging academic disciplines in our education stream and large number of institutes offer variety of programs in teacher education specializing in Physical Education and Sports Science and sincerely strives to develop the areas of professional competence and expertise in teaching Physical Education as a major subject. The School of Sports Education at ITM University is committed to groom its teachers to be well-prepared practitioners in the field of physical education, sport science and sport pedagogy. Along with strong professional preparation the mission of the school is also to excel in research and become the leaders in Physical education and sports.

The main purpose of establishing Bachelor of physical education is to uplift the standard of physical education and sports and to produce best leaders to make our society physically fit, mentally strong, socially committed and professionally active. Physical education is unique discipline which is included in school/ college curriculum as it is the only program that provides students opportunities to learn motor skills, develop fitness, and gain understanding of physical activity and their benefits.

On behalf of School of Sports Education, I wholeheartedly welcome you all. Here you will find the latest news about the School of Sports Education, its exceptional programs, students, faculty, and alumni. I am really happy that the School of Sports Education has performed exceptionally well in the last few years and achieved new mile stones flying the ITM University flag high in the AIIU competitions. I am optimistically excited about the future prospects of what we will achieve together in the coming years in the field of games & sports.

Vision:

The School of Sports Education provides academic programs in Physical education & Sports and Yoga. The SOSE will provide a Comprehensive Physical Education program that is dedicated to creating an environment that allows students to understand and to display cooperative social skills, teamwork, peer interaction, leadership, sportsmanship, positive attitude, self-esteem, and enjoyment. The curriculum will create an environment that focuses on current information, technology, and equipment to meet the needs of individual students. We aim to provide exemplary programs in these areas. The School of sports education, ITM University, Gwalior should be known nationally and internationally for its excellence in producing leaders in the field of physical education  and sports . Sportsmen, Coach’s of international repute should be produced .The School of sports education should offer the most innovative programs in physical education and   focus should be on-going research.

Mission:

In keeping with the University’s mission, the School of Sports Education (SOSE) and Leadership is dedicated to and focused on the development of the whole student: physical, mental, Social, and intellectual. The Physical Education Program develops leaders in physical education, coaching, recreation and sports management. We are committed to preparing students to meet the complex challenges of our regional and global communities. The department is dedicated to providing a high quality education and career preparation with the idea of excellent teaching being the central to our mission. Our students teach in a variety of settings, including schools, sports arenas, fitness centers, community/public health organizations, yoga, and outdoor recreation endeavors.

  1. BPES (Bachelor of Physical Education &Sports) 3 years
  2. MPES (Master of Physical Education &Sports) 2 years
  3. BPED (Bachelor of  Physical Education) 2 years 
  4. PGDYED (Post graduate diploma in yoga education) 1 year
  5. PHD (Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Education)
  • B.P.E.S (Bachelor of Physical Education & Sports)  UGC recognised  course  which is a three year degree course( 6 semesters)  that  includes theory and practical  including some additional subjects as English, ICT etc. The main purpose of establishing BPES (Bachelor of Physical Education &Sports was for the upliftment of physical education and health education and producing the best leaders in the society so that we can produce physically fit, mentally alert and socially outgoing  citizens  The intake is 100 seats and eligibility-10+2
  • B.P.Ed. (Bachelor of physical education)The B.P.Ed. Program which is recognised by NCTE   will be for a duration of two academic years. The intake will be  100  students .The eligibility criteria is Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participated in the inter-College/ Inter-Zonal/ District/ School/National/International competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFl/Govt. of India/ Bachelor’s degree in physical education with 45% marks./Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as compulsory/elective subject Graduation with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed in-service candidates i.e. trained physical education teachers/ coaches)
  • M.P.E.S. (Master of Physical Education &Sports )recognised  by UGC-The MPES program will be for a duration of 2 years (4 semesters )  with  an intake  of 50 students. The eligibility criteria is –BPES/BPED with 50%marks.
  • P.G. DIPLOMA IN YOGA (PGDYED) The duration of the course will be of 1 year(2 semesters))  with  an intake  of 25 students .The eligibility criteria  is any graduate with 45%marks.
  • Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Education) the eligibility criteria is Master Degree in Physical Education with minimum 50% marks.

Eligibility

B.P.E.S. Eligibility

Aspiring candidates should have passed 10+2 from a recognized school board in any stream. Those who have taken physical education in 10+2 are more preferred. The reserved candidates (SC/ST) will be given age relaxation as per UGC/State Govt/ University rules.

Note:

Medical Fitness Certificate is Compulsory.

BPED Eligibility 

Pass with 50% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree (any discipline) and having atleast participation in the Inter College or Inter Zonal or District or School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU or IOA or SGFI or Govt. of India or equivalent. 

OR

Pass with 45% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or equivalent.

OR

Pass with 45% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree (any discipline) with Physical Education as compulsory or elective subject or equivalent. 

OR

Pass with 45% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree and participated in National or Inter University or State competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in Inter College or Inter-Zonal or District or School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU or IOA or SGFI or Govt. of India or equivalent.

OR

Pass in Bachelor’s degree with participation in International Competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in National or Inter-University competition in sports and games as recognized by respective federations or AIU or IOA or SGFI or Govt. of India or equivalent.

OR

Pass with 45% aggregate marks in Graduation and at least three years of teaching experience for deputed in-service candidates (i.e. trained physical education teachers or coaches).

M.P.E.S. Eligibility 

The student should have passed B.P.E.S./B.P.Ed./B.Sc. (Physical Education) shall be eligible for the course from any recognized university.

Ph. D. Eligibility 

A candidate must complete Masters in Physical Education with minimum 55% aggregate marks to be eligible for PhD Physical Education. Student should also have adequate Physical Education skills as they may be tested during Personal Interview and via entrance examination of the PhD. The Admission to PhD in Physical Education is Entrance Based.

P G Diploma in Yoga Education Eligibility

Pass with 50% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree (any discipline).

Facilities

The facilities available for games & sports (both indoor and outdoor facilities), yoga hall, gymnasium and cultural activities are more than sufficient and well equipped. The same is evident by the large number of participation by the students and their achievements in terms of winning medals and awards in different categories.

The norms and procedures prescribed by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), as well as, various games and sports Federations of India are practiced in letter and spirit to organize quality AIIU and Open National and State tournaments and sports events

Cricket Practice Pitch and Ground

The Cricket Ground at ITM University, Turari campus is one of the main attraction for both athletes and non-athletes. This lush green field of cricket was inaugrated by shri Jotyiraditya Scindia (Member of Parliament) on 18 September 2016.The BCCI approved cricket groundhas witnessed many events and projects to promote cricket and provide the young talents a stage to showcase their talent. Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence introduced in 2016 equipped with latest technology available for better improvement of skills further transformed into ITM Cricket academy from 2018 which functioned regularly till 2023.

This ground has also been wittness to Vizzy Trophy organized by BCCI in the year 2018-19, West zone Interuniversity Cricket tournament men in year 2019-20 hosting 105 teams from West zone of Indian Universities, also organized a Vizzy Trophy camp in the year 2019- 20 for West Zone.The cricket ground hosts many matches and events like these at inter University level and State Association level.

Football Ground

  1. Playing Surface: School of Sports Education (SOSE) likely has 1 Football ground, and the playing surface is typically natural grass, maintained to a high standard to ensure safety and fair
  2. Goalposts: Each end of the field is marked by goalposts, typically consisting of two upright posts joined by a crossbar.
  3. Markings: The field is marked with lines indicating the boundaries of play, penalty areas, goal areas, center circle, and other zones required by the rules of the game

  6. Oragnised Events: This ground has witnessed 2 football west zone of women . The first west zone was conducted on December 2018 in which woman team of itm bags gold 2nd time it was conducted on dec 2023 in which more then 40 university has participated .

Floorball Rink

One 20 by 40 metre synthetic surface floorball court is located next to a sports arena at ITM University. The floorball ground is a hive of athletic activity located on the expansive ITM University campus. Tucked away between contemporary buildings and verdant surroundings, this field is a gathering place for academics, athletes and students.

The floorball court, which is in the centre of the campus, has modern amenities to meet the demands of both novice and expert players. The playing field is kept immaculate, with smooth, clearly delineated surfaces for the best possible gameplay. Because of its thoughtful placement, there is an abundance of natural light during the day, which fosters a welcoming environment for sports and leisure and also we have proper lighting for night practice and matches. Complete with all the necessary equipment, the ITM University floorball rink (ground) can host a variety of events, including as friendly games, intercollegiate events, open national events, district and state tournaments, West Zone and all-India university tournaments.

Athletics grounds and facilities are essential components for ITM University in Gwalior.

Basketball Court- There are 2 basketball courts in ITM University campus (Measuring 28×15m). Two basketball court is in front of LEONARDO DA VINCI BLOCK, the courts made up of synthetic based flooring.

The volleyball court in School of Sports Education (SOSE) campus is situated in front of Sport Arena. there is 2 courts is availble and court dimension are 18×9m each. The volleyball court also acts as a centre for skill and personal development. Players can develop their skills, polish their techniques, and increase their understanding of the game through coaching programmes, training sessions, and workshops.
