“ Kisan Vaigyanik Vichar Vimarsha Evam Krishi Kshetra mein career sthapan ki Sambhavnayein”

A farmer’s scientist interaction was organized by School of Agriculture, ITM University, Gwalior on June 9, 2014 at Mittal Dharamshala in Moraina. The main objective of this event was to get the feedback of the farmers regarding their problems pertaining to cultivation of Kharif crops and solved them amicably. Besides this, the event was also organized to aware students about the career opportunities in Agriculture. The Goshthi was attended by 100 farmers/students. The Goshthi was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr S.S. Tomar, Associate Director Research, Regional Research Center, Moraina. Dr Tomar briefed about the various agronomical practices related to major Kharif crops and emphasized on use of good quality seeds to get better production.

Prof. Girish Pandey, Dean School of Agriculture, ITM University, Gwalior described the different issues related to soil management, time management, water management and diversification in agriculture to get better return from farming. He also emphasized for vocational training to rural youth on poultry farming, fisherish, beekeeping, nursery management and post harvest management, etc. to generate self employment among them . Prof. Pandey also addressed the farmers to maintain the biodiversity on the farm. For rural women, Prof. Pandey suggested to engage them in candle and incense stick to generate income as well as self employment.

Prof. T. Singh discussed on the Kharif vegetables production and income generation from the vegetable production. He solved the issues of the farmers regarding the vegetable production.

Dr. R.C. Pandey, Assistant Professor, Plant Pathology, discussed on Integrated Pest Management of Kharif crops viz. Jowar, Bajra, Arhar etc.

Dr. Amit Kanawjia, Assistant Professor, Horticulture addressed the students on the career opportunities in Agriculture and apprise the student about the career scope after B.Sc. Agriculture, M.Sc. Agriculture, MBA Agri Business and Ph.D. in Government and Private sectors, NGO’s and also focused on becoming entrepreneurs in agriculture by adopting it as a business.

PMr. Himanshu Mishra, Lecturer, Horticultureproposed a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Scientists, Farmers and students for making this programme a grand success.
