The uniqueness of Department:

  • The department provides project-based learning (PBL), which meets the demands of the modern educational system by having students work through real-world issues. With this student-centered method, students tackle an open-ended challenge in groups to gain knowledge about a subject.
  • The department employs highly skilled faculty members who combine in-person and virtual training with their substantial research backgrounds to deliver top-notch instruction.
  • The institution’s dedication to innovation, expansion, and staying ahead of the quickly changing technical landscape is demonstrated by the R&D cell of the department, which focuses on cutting-edge fields in information and communication technology.
  • The department offers comprehensive curriculum covering all aspects of pharmaceuticals preparation, formulation, compounding and manufacturing processes. This holistic approach ensures that students gain a solid understanding.
  • The department has implemented activity-based continuous assessment (ABCA) in an attempt to raise student performance levels generally. Using this strategy, students work on a range of technical assignments, such as projects, posters, seminars, case studies, open-book exams, quizzes, and research articles.
  • Outstanding internships and a stellar track record of placements in both domestic and international industries.
  • Collaborative learning environments are fostered by offering students practical experience and a deeper knowledge of diverse subjects through interactive workshops with hands-on sessions by experts.
  • Eminent alumni association members who work for some of the top multinational corporations provide strong alumni support.

Even though the degree of freedom to modify the syllabus as proposed by the Pharmacy Council, the school is ever into enhancing the program in the school.

The first incorporation was the ABCA, with due BOS approval was greatly welcomed and accepted by our students. This concept has kept our students ever on their toes on continuous self-learning mode.

This time, keeping in view of the all-round development of the students, an attempt is to be made to develop the sensitive faculty of the students with an abundance of enthusiasm and energy. Thus, attempting to establish Emotional Quotient (EQ) in each student. It was therefore decided to include a Non-University Exam- credit Course of Fine Arts/Humanities, of the choice of students of First year and Second year.

Various educational materials related to Pharmacy, available online on various platforms as Coursera, MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses), Swayam, Udemy, e-Pathshala, Harvard Online Courses, In-House courses, etc. The matter was discussed in detail to append online courses identified to be equivalent or enhance the already offered subjects in their syllabus that would enhance their employability at the end of their course. Thus, the students of III year and Final Year will have to take online courses as elective subjects’ bouquet, in each semester, related to Pharmacy, Medical Sciences, and Health industries limited to 4 credits for two years, and submit a Certificate as proof.

Activity Based Continuous Assessment System (ABCA)

ITM University is the first to adopt the Activity-Based Continuous Assessment System in M.P. which is being implemented at IITs, IIMs, and among the best universities of the world. A student is evaluated for his/her performance in a subject continuously during a Semester/Trimester. The major components under ABCA in our School of Pharmacy include Application Based Activity, Projects, formulation development, Case Writing, Review of Literature, Seminar, Quiz, Poster, Open Book Test, Quiz and Assignments, etc. We have also developed a unique culture to give prizes for the best individual and group ABCA activities to boost the students.

Project-based learning (PBL)

Project-Based Learning (PBL) embodies a philosophy of education that emphasizes active, experiential learning. At its core, PBL shifts the focus from passive absorption of information to hands-on engagement with real-world problems and challenges. This approach encourages students to take ownership of their learning journey, fostering a deeper understanding of concepts and enhancing retention. Moreover, PBL promotes the development of essential skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving – skills that are indispensable in today’s rapidly evolving world. By immersing students in authentic projects, PBL nurtures their curiosity, creativity, and intrinsic motivation to learn. Additionally, PBL aligns with the idea of lifelong learning, preparing students not only for academic success but also for success in their future careers and endeavours. Ultimately, the merits of PBL lie in its ability to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also adept at applying their knowledge to address real-world challenges.

Some of the ongoing PBL topics are as under

  • Formulation and development of drug
  • Formulating some traditional-based formulation under the scheme of Mission Ayurveda of Govt of India.
